Office Supplies

Sep 15th, 2010 Posted in Business | no comment »

Depending on what kind of business you are in, there will come a time when you will need office supplies.  The term ‘office supplies’ covers an amazing array of products these days, as the business world becomes more and more sophisticated.  Office supply shops are not just places where you can purchase paper, envelopes and packing tape, many of these shops carry hundreds of different kinds of cartridges for printers, computers, copiers and even office furniture.  Most of these companies offer delivery, and you can even order your office supplies over the internet without ever leaving your desk.

Even with the huge increase in email these days, which lessens the use of so much paper as was used in the past, companies still use large amounts of paper for printing purposes and this paper can be purchased in many different qualities.  Obviously if you need paper for printing up presentation materials, a better quality paper can be purchased, perhaps in one of the many different colors that can be ordered off the shelf, but most copy paper is a standard weight and color designed to work efficiently in modern ink jet and laser printers.

Although envelopes are quickly becoming a thing of the past thanks to email, these are always needed for local companies that do mail-outs, or simply for holding peoples’ salary cheques..

Building a Brand

Aug 22nd, 2010 Posted in Business | no comment »

The key to creative and effective branding of any program, product, service or institution is finding the right positioning to drive the advertising and other marketing tools. It doesn’t have to be complicated or weird. In fact, if it’s good and effective, it’s simple and will follow this rule of consumers – You are what you appear to be.  This position, or brand is really an identity (not in your mind but in your audience’s), a way people can sort through all the confusing information and summarize what they think about something.

What do you get with a brand identity?

Over the last 25 years we have come to learn that the development of a brand identity is much more than a mere benchmark denoting successful arrival in business, or its evolution and growth. A clearly defined and easily recognized identity has, in fact, become a critical success factor in today’s highly competitive business environment.

Just to lay some groundwork, here are ten reasons why doing so can have a strategically important effect on your bottom line:

- It’s easier to know who you are, which means:

- It’s easier to know what you do. (Helps develop goals)

- It’s easier to know how to do it. (Helps with implementation)

- Less energy is expended overall. (Creates efficiency in communications)

- Team building occurs naturally when staff can identify with a common symbol, common language and therefore common goals. (Sports uniforms are a good example. Every player feels like a part of the group.)

- You can match your image to your clients needs or view of his business. (A simple matter of give’em what they want.)

- With a clearly defined identity you communicate more efficiently with your customers, and they remember you more easily. (Memorability is easier when everybody clearly knows who you are.)

- Enhancements in the overall quality of your product or service. (Consistency always counts.)

- Benefits and unique qualities of your business are communicated more clearly to your clients thereby increasing sales. (Marketing tool)

- Helps set identifiable standards of quality in your product or service. Helps with a sense of reliability by developing a brand identity. (Brand names are trusted.)

So, what is a brand anyway?

As we begin the process of making recommendations for developing a brand identity let’s talk about what we really mean by brand. What is it, why does it work, how does it work and who makes it work.

Philip Durbrow, vice chairman of the international design firm of Frankfurt Balkind Partners, recalls, – When I first started working in branding, it became obvious that there were no clear universal definitions of key words like marketing, strategy, identity, image and brand. I’ve developed specific definitions so that we are clear on what we are talking about. Fuzzy words yield fuzzy thinking and fuzzy brands.

Over The Counter Bulletin Board – Here Are The Keys To Your Success

Going public, the ultimate in the evolution of companies who are seeking access to powerful global finance options for rapid expansion, deepening corporate roots and gaining industry prominence as a true powerhouse and player. The process of going public is technical yet pretty straight forward: business plan, Private Placement Memorandum, Direct Public Offering, Financial Audit, S-1 filing, SEC comments phase, SEC approval, FINRA approval, symbol and then you’re public.

Never price shop for consultants that take companies public and be weary of consultants that will start off a conversation by answering questions geared toward price and giving you quotes without understanding your business first; without the proper information a realistic quote can’t be given anyway.

When you’ve found a consultant that you’re comfortable with you’ll need to get a solid understanding of their full range of services. Of course you’ll want a consulting firm that will handle all of the above for your company but you’ll also need to consider the post IPO services. What happens after you’re public? The reality is, selling off stock in a rapid fashion to raise capital is the last thing you want to do, instead you need to approach your consultant and market maker on how to cross collateralize your securities to raise equity loan capital.

This can be done easily and quickly if you’ve brought on the right group of advisers to expand your company to the global public. When considering the idea of taking your company public it’s important to note that there are many ways to raise capital after you are public without selling off chunks of your company (consult your financial advisers for more information).

Next, when deciding on a consultant they should also have solid investor relationships to assist your company in raising the capital necessary to go public. A true turn-key consultant will have a database of investors seasoned in the process of pre-IPO finance and will often times jump at the chance of investing in the PPM and DPO phase at a discount for companies that are in the process of going public as this almost guarantees that the investor will double or triple their initial investment when the company achieves public status.

Out of the hundreds of consulting firms that offer the ‘take your company public’ service, there are only a dozen or so that actually offer the complete full range of services needed to successfully accomplish public status in a way that maintains investor confidence and corporate longevity. Do your research and find a firm that is well seasoned in the turbulent waters of this industry.
